AN AMAZING STORY.

Family.

A SIP FROM OUR PAST.

Wines and experiences.

The story of our winery is one that began in the Roero region in 1960, a story of vision, adventure and sincere flavours.

Cantina Pelassa
HUMBLE ORIGINS

Ambitious soul.

Mario Pelassa has a lot of kilometres under his belt. 60 there and 60 back. From Montà d'Alba, his homeland, all the way up the Superga hill, on a bicycle from which he barely touched the ground with the tips of his toes, when he was not yet 10 years old.

Cantina Pelassa
THE FAMILY

The 1950s.

All to provide for his large family, trying to sell some wine in the big city. Turin of the 1950s was rich in fine products and avant-garde in all fields, such that it could truly be considered the intellectual capital of Italy at the time.

Cantina Pelassa
THE 1960s

From the bicycle to the iconic motorbike.

From the production of a few bottles, to the entrepreneurial dream. In 1960, Mario Pelassa, together with his wife Maria Teresa Viglione, always known as the irreplaceable Teresina, founded the family business.

Cantina Pelassa
THE DREAM

Roots and passion.

At first they concentrated their efforts on catering for the northern Italian market, but the dream was much bigger. To specialise and conquer the foreign market.

Cantina Pelassa
Origini umili

Animo ambizioso.

Cantina Pelassa
Gli anni ‘60

Dalla bici all’iconica motocicletta.

WINE HAS THE
POWER TO TRANSFORM PEOPLE'S SOULS.

Our story.

“As I reached the hill of Superga I met a big, big man with a stern yet reassuring look, he asked me to pour him some wine, the new Nebbiolo. I still remember his expression of amazement at how generous and elegant a wine could be! That man gave us hope for a less harsh future”…

Mario Pelassa

That big man, won over by the taste of our Nebbiolo, became our first customer in Turin and this gave us the knowledge that our region could give us a better future.

A BRIGHT FUTURE.

The winery today.

Since the 2000s, Pelassa Winery has been taken over by his sons, Davide and Daniele.

Davide, a tractor driver by vocation, is in charge of getting the best grapes to the winery.

Daniele, on the other hand, is the face of Pelassa Wine, the more commercial and communicative soul.

Together they run a future-oriented winery.
